We are hiring for an Undergrad Assistant III
Position Description:
The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture at UC Davis is a global program funded by USAID to conduct research in fruit and vegetable sectors. As part of this program, there is a considerable amount of administrative activities required to maintain compliance with USAID and to support our initiatives. The student assistant will assist, with guidance, the Horticulture Innovation Lab team at UC Davis in accomplishing administrative needs, primarily: coordinating and booking travel (specifically through Aggie Travel) for attendees of conferences and events around the world; completing and submitting expense reports (through AggieExpense); helping schedule various meetings (utilizing Zoom and in-person) with international and domestic collaborators for the Innovation Lab's Director; and, support our financial officer in record keeping and preparing various simple financial documents. Although these administrative tasks are based in our office, this opportunity, in particular, offers good exposure for an undergrad interested in international development work to learn approaches in managing a global research portfolio.
Job Requirements:
Comfort with emailing contacts around the world for communications related to the administrative tasks.
Comfort with learning new software systems.
Strong organizational skills.
Comfort with Zoom.
Comfort with utilizing Google Calendar and/or Outlook Calendar.
Ability to work with what are at times tight deadlines.
Comfort in the Microsoft Suite of programs.
Attention to detail is critical.
Employee must be excited to work with a dedicated team, take direction, and participate in making decisions.
Much of the day-to-day work will be done with little direct supervision; a student must be able to work independently and solve problems as they come up.
Available at least 10 hours per week throughout the school year and 20 hours per week through the summer break. (negotiable)
